Master Quest

Introduction[]

In Royal Road, a Master is a Practitioner who is at the peak of his Class/Profession. The Best Players can claim this status. But is it not an easy feat.

Until now, only NPC Masters were known to exist in Royal Road, but no Users. Those masters were either Alive (and often well hidden) or long dead, having left a legacy behind (for example Geihar Von Arpen or Belsos La Deus, the 3rd).

Each Path of Mastery is said to consist of a Chain Quest of at least 12 to 20 stages[1] (Unicorn Corporation), which in a way can be compared to a Profession related S Class Quest.

Last but not least, the first master quest for every class will be slightly more difficult[2] (Unicorn Corporation), and of course, will have better rewards too.

Requirements[]

A player can embark upon a unique generated quest [3], once:

  1. User's main skill needs to come close to its utmost level of expertise. (v27c6),
  2. The User must learn enough from the masters related to their Profession/Class. For example, Weed had to meet 5 Master sculptors and/or receive their legacy.

The requirement is different, depending on the class (v27ch6)

  • Advanced Level 6 for the Combat classes,
  • Advanced Level 7 for the Adventurer classes,
  • Advanced Level 8 for the Art or Production classes

Unlocking new game features []

To solve the master class chain quest implies also to unlock unique information related to Versailles's continent history [4]. So the master class player are contributing to reveal and unfold the Continent history and a new layer of the game.

For example, it will unlock:

  • New race ( for example: the avian race)
  • New Race features (for example: new class for orcs)
  • New Classes (for example: ceramist class)
  • New class features (like new gods, and therefore new cults and new skills)
  • Numerous New Skills
  • Various New Items, related to past cultures

Etc...   It will even change the political setting [5]

Other related questions[]

  • Special Quest penalty : Dying during the quest will significantly drop your skill proficiency [6]
  • List of existing NPC masters:

For example :

  • Each Master Class user writes his own unique contribution his class

For example : through the discovery of a skill of the past For example : through creation of a new skill For example: through solving a major issue related to his class In the end, each Master Class user writes his own unique contribution to the Continent history.

First users to attempt the master quest[]

Weed is the first player to publicly attempt the master quest[7]), after having achieved all the pre-requisite. Bard Ray, from Hermes guild was the second.

Overall, 27 Users followed Weed. Those Master quests do not really overlap nor interfere with each other [8]. A few names where given, beside Weed and Bard Ray, which went public. Miretas a farmer or Chase a famous adventurer [9] or even Drago, a tailor[10], both are players from Arpen Kingdom.

And when the first users were finishing theirs, 54 people had already started their master quest [11]. In other words, Weed's public move had a strong ripple effect. A new stage of the game started to unfold. And soon the Hegemony Alliance started to collapse.

Also, there was Fabio the blacksmith who reached 99%, level 9 at the advanced skill[12]. But at this stage, someone had yet to achieve the master class status [13].

First master class users[]

  • Weed has achieved master sculpting, and is the first player Master in the continent
  • The first user ever to succeed is Weed, during his final secret sculpting technique quest in the warring age. As Nodule, he temporary became a master swordsman at level 824, after defeating strong monsters and achieving the last stage of the master quest [14].
  • Weed finally achieves mastery in Sculpting  in Vol 47 Ch 3 by successfully completing the Final stage of the Master Quest which is invoked when he achieves Advanced Level 9 at 99.8% in his sculpting skill. The Quest is given by the God Hestia who commissions him to sculpt a Star in the sky. He is temporarily given the ability to survive in outer space, and succeeds by sculpting another sculpture of Seoyoon. He becomes the first user Master in the present time (not in the past as Nodulle).
  • The next two users to become masters were blacksmiths Fabio and Herman, who were cited by Weed into a competition to created the best sword using Helium that Weed supplied them with; the competition was an excuse by Weed to delay their progress by having them migrate to the Arpen Kingdom. However, they wouldn't have succeeded in achieving Mastery anyway without the challenge of using Helium, since their skills were stuck at Advanced Level 9 at 99.9% no matter how hard they tried before.

No direct link with the Emperor Quest[]

  • The master quest is not directly related to the Emperor quest.
  • In some case, the master class may support the growth of a character and therefore help him in the Emperor quest. For example, this did happen, during the Nodule and Hilderun quest in the warring age period, where Weed-Nodule, succeeded both at the master swordman quest and the emperor quest, before finally achieving the final secret sculpting technique quest.
  • In other case, it would get in the way. For example, in Bardray’s case, he did not train enough his core skill at swordmanship. Because of his overall level and diverse range of skills, he still hadn’t achieved mastering swordsmanship[15]. Weapons, armour, quests and exceptional subordinates meant he didn’t place much significance on the sword.
